Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - It was a tough night for the Thunder Pork Roll defensively as they allowed nine walks and committed three errors in the field during an 8-7 loss on Friday Night. Trenton had no answers for the Frederick offense, allowing three multi-run innings to the Keys.
The Pork Roll fell behind 3-0 early before cutting the deficit to two on a RBI-triple off the bat of Ramon Jimenez that scored Angel Mendoza. After the Keys got one back the next half inning to make it 4-1, The Pork Roll rallied in their half of the seventh to take their first and only lead of the night at 5-4.
The Trenton lead would vanish quick as the Keys forced multiple walks and pushed across two runs in the eighth and ninth innings to regain the lead at 8-5. It was a valiant effort in the end from the Pork Roll in the ninth inning, with Chris Merriwether and Jack Lynch reaching base to start the inning and later scoring off the two-RBI-double from Joe Impeduglia. That would be as close as it got for the Pork Roll however, as they stranded the tying run at second to end the game.
Your First Half Champion Thunder continue their three-game series with the Frederick Keys on Saturday August 19th at 6:30 PM.
