Frederick Keys News Release

LHP Zack Britton worked six shutout innings and the Keys got a pair of two-run home runs from 1B Brandon Waring (5) and SS Pedro Florimon (4) as Frederick won for the seventh time in eight games, defeating Kinston Saturday night, 4-3.

Britton allowed four hits and struck out six in six innings of work leaving the game with the Keys atop, 4-0.

But it got interesting in the seventh inning.

Indians RF Lucas Montero narrowly beat out an infield hit to leadoff the inning. Later, with two on and one out 1B Cristo Arnal hit a home run to left field to bring the Indians within 4-3. The Keys contended vigorously that the ball hit the outfield wall and was still in play, but their claims came to no avail.

Frederick then turned the game over to closer Luis Lebron who worked through a one-out double in the eighth inning before striking out the side in order in the ninth to close the door.

The Keys have climbed to 17-19 on the year by winning five-of-its-last-six one-run games.

The win was the first of the season for Zach Britton and the sixth by a Keys starter in 2009.

Frederick looks for its first series sweep Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Grainger Stadium. Tim Bascom will be on the hill to take on the Indians with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show getting underway at 1:40 p.m. on the Keys Baseball Network.

The Keys return home for Kids Eat Free Monday as they take on the Lynchburg Hillcats at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18th. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
