FREDERICK, MD - The Salem Red Sox (21-20) defeated the Frederick Keys (18-25) 5-1 on Monday night at Nymeo Field. In the game, the Keys grounded into a season-high four double plays and left seven on base.

The Red Sox started the scoring in the third. Santiago Espinal singled and advanced to third on a Brett Netzer base hit. Espinal would then score on a Jerry Downs ground out to make it 1-0.

In the fourth, Salem added two more runs. With two outs, Ofelky Peralta walked Ryan Scott. Chris Madera followed with a single which brought up Espinal. He singled to center field that scored Scott, and an errant throw to third allowed Madera to score.

Frederick would plate a run in the sixth. Alejandro Juvier walked and moved to third on a Chris Clare double. With one out, Cole Billingsley hit a sacrifice fly to right field that reached the warning track and allowed Juvier to score to make it 3-1.

Salem would get that run back in the seventh on an Espinal home run. In the ninth, Jordan Wren and Madera got on base with infield singles. Wren then scored on a ground rule double from Netzer, pushing the lead to 5-1.

Peralta (1-4) took the loss for Frederick. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, while walking five and striking out four. Earning the win for Salem, Tanner Houck (2-6) tossed the longest outing of his professional career. He completed six innings, and allowed one run on five hits while walking three.
