FREDERICK, MD-The Frederick Keys are excited to announce that Wilson Garcia has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week for May 14-20. The Keys first baseman becomes the first member of the club to receive a weekly honor in 2018.

One of the most productive hitters in Minor League Baseball last week, Garcia, 24, went 10-for-18 (.556/.550/1.0000) with two home runs, two doubles, 10 RBIs and five runs scored. Garcia also posted a 1.550 OPS. The 10 RBIs by Garcia were tied for the sixth-most in the MiLB last week and were second-most at the Advanced-A level. Only Drew Ellis of Visalia (11) finished with more.

Concluding his week in style, Garcia went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored in game one of Sunday's doubleheader against Myrtle Beach. Earlier in week he registered a season-high five RBIs at Lynchburg, tying the most by a Keys player this season.

Acquired by the Orioles via trade with the Phillies on May 1, Garcia is batting .393/.424/.672 with three home runs, 12 RBIs, eight doubles and 13 runs scored in 16 games with the Keys. Owner of multi-hit games in eight of his last 10 contests, the Venezuela native is 19 for his last 37 (.514 BA) while 11 of those hits have gone for extra-bases (3-HR, 8-2B).

Originally signed by the Phillies in November, 2010, Garcia was hitting .250/.250.357 with three doubles and two runs scored in seven games with the Advanced-A Clearwater Threshers at the time he was traded to the Orioles.

The Keys begin a four-game series with the Salem Red Sox on Monday night at Nymeo Field. Right-hander Ofelky Peralta (1-3, 6.75) gets the ball for the Keys and will be opposed by Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck (1-5, 6.00). First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m and can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio app. For tickets, fans can call the Keys at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.

The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
