Frederick Keys News Release

In front of a nice crowd of 4,521, the Keys rolled to a 5-1 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats. Despite leaving 12 runners on base, Frederick plated two runs in the first and three in the third. The Keys' bullpen was stellar again as they did not allow a run over five innings of work. Frederick improved to 32-23 with the victory while Lynchburg fell to 24-31.

After RHP Ryan O'Shea threw a scoreless first inning, the Keys scored two runs on RHP Brad Boxberger. Boxberger, who was making his fourth start of the season against Frederick, gave up single to leadoff hitter Kyle Hudson. Hudson stole second and then DH Xavier Avery put down a sac bunt that moved him to third. SS Greg Miclat singled home Hudson to give the Keys the early lead. Following the Miclat single, Boxberger became a little erratic. He hit both RF Joe Mahoney and 1B Jacob Julius to load the bases. After a Ronnie Welty strikeout, 3B Billy Rowell walked home a run to give the Keys a two-run advantage.

O'Shea pitched two more scoreless innings before allowing his first run. 3B Alex Buchholz led off the top of the fourth with a solo homerun to cut the Lynchburg deficit to one. O'Shea battled through the inning and stranded a runner on third as he retired DH Jose Gualdron to end to fourth and his night.

Over four innings, O'Shea allowed one run on four hits. He struck out three and walked two on the night.

His counterpart's night was also over after four innings. Boxberger surrendered two runs on six hits. He struck out six and walked one.

The Keys would add some insurance runs in the sixth against RHP Lance Janke. With two out, Kyle Hudson started the rally with a walk. DH Xavier Avery hit a RBI triple off the wall in rightfield to bring home Hudson. SS Greg Miclat singled home Avery for his second RBI of the night. Two batters later, 1B Jacob Julius continued his hot streak as he hit a ground-rule double to leftfield that brought home Miclat. Over his last three starts, Julius is 7-for-9 with two homeruns, three doubles, and six RBI.

Frederick's bullpen was flawless once again. RHP Brett Jacobson threw three scoreless innings en route to his fourth win of the year and RHP Raul Rivero closed out the game with two scoreless innings.

The Keys and Hillcats will play game three of the four-game series tomorrow night. Frederick will start LHP Nate Nery (3-5, 3.86) while Lynchburg will go with RHP Mark Serrano (2-2, 3.38).

Saturday night is Girls Night Out at Harry Grove Stadium sponsored by Rentals Unlimited. Fireworks will follow the game. For tickets call 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at www.frederickkeys.com.
