Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick, MD- The Trenton Thunder spoiled the Keys return to Nymeo Field on Thursday evening, as Frederick dropped the contest by a 6-2 score.

After Hunter Viets retired the first two batters of the game, an Anthony Fontana double was followed up by a mammoth two run blast off the bat of Joe Impeduglia, spotting the Thunder an early 2-0 cushion.

After the Keys first inning rally was stifled by a double play, a Zaid Walker triple followed by a Logan Thomason double plated Frederick's first run of the game. However, with runners on the corners, another double play ball cut the rally short.

Both Viets and Luke Rettig tossed up zeroes for the next couple innings until the Thunder again got to the Frederick starter in the fifth. With two outs, a single and hit batter put two runners on for Dan Covino. Covino doubled into left field, scoring one run, before Max Giordano followed with a two run double to put Trenton up 5-1. The Keys would get a run back in the bottom half on a wild pitch.

Jack Lynch added a run in the top of the ninth with a single, and the Keys would strand runners on the corners to end the game in a 6-2 defeat.

Notes

- Joe Impeduglia's HR measured at 415 feet and left the bat at 111.1 miles per hour

- Kyle Salley tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Keys, allowing just one run while striking out three
