Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick, Md. - During Family Fitness weekend, the Frederick Keys are inviting fans to get active. They will not be the only ones. On Sunday, June 5 during the club's 2:00 p.m game against the Carolina Mudcats, radio voices Geoff Arnold and Doug Raftery will be broadcasting the Keys game from the first base concourse....on exercise bikes. Not only will this encourage both individuals to refrain from eating hot dogs for a day, but both broadcasters will be raising money for the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County.

"I won't lie, my conditioning would make Richard Simmons cry," said Keys radio broadcaster Geoff Arnold. "During the offseason my gym habits are okay, but when you take into account travel, fast food and ballpark food during the season, it's easy to lose control and overindulge. I'm excited to get fit while doing what I love to do and am pumped to help out a great cause in the process."

The bike ride will be a nine-inning race between Arnold and Raftery. Whichever individual travels more miles over the course of the game will be declared the winner. The race will start at first pitch and last the duration of the game. Both are praying no extra innings get played. Fans will be kept apprised of the duo's progress as the afternoon moves along. Whoever loses will be required to make an additional $50 contribution to the Boys and Girls club.

"The Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County is thrilled to be partnering once again with the Frederick Keys," said Pat Gunnin, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club. "The proceeds from this event will be used as part of our ongoing Healthy Lifestyles programming and our Clubriders program, in preparation for the Tour De Frederick on August 12-14. We are grateful again for their continued support."

Each broadcaster will be granted three bathroom breaks or "pit stops" throughout the day. Any more will result in a half-mile deduction. Due to the clumsiness of both individuals (especially Geoff) there will be no distance penalties should either drop any of their broadcast materials. Ridicule from oncoming fans and staff members will be punishment enough.

"It's an exciting day at the ballpark to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County, which hosts the ever-exciting Tour de Frederick every year, making it a perfect match," said Raftery. "As an avid runner, bike riding against Geoff shouldn't be too much of an issue, but I just hope none of the rules trip me up on my way to a win."

Starting on Friday, Arnold and Raftery will be launching GoFundMe pages in which fans are encouraged to support both broadcasters and the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County. To contribute you can click on the links of (Geoff) and (Doug) These will also be posted on the club's social media accounts as well frederickkeys.com and both individuals twitter accounts (@geoffontheair) and (@dougraftery).

To catch the broadcast, fans as always can tune into 1450 AM The Source, frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn Radio App (by searching WTHU). Or to watch two out-of-shape broadcasters struggle through (hopefully) nine innings, fans can purchase tickets by calling 301-815-9939 or visiting frederickkeys.com.
