Keys And Dash Split Double Dip

On Saturday night in Winston-Salem, the Keys and Dash split a doubleheader at BB&T Ballpark. Frederick took game one, 6-2, and Winston-Salem won the second game, 10-1. RHP Luis Noel picked up the victory in game one while LHP Cole McCurry got the loss in the game two.

Frederick got off to a quick start in game one of the double dip against RHP Stephen Sauer. CF Xavier Avery doubled to right field to leadoff the game. The Avery double broke a 0-20 stretch at the plate. Following a sac bunt by LF Kyle Hudson, RF Ronnie Welty brought home Avery on a sacrifice fly to rightfield.

The Keys started the off the second inning with four straight hits as they ended up bringing home three runs against Sauer in the inning. 3B Buck Britton, DH Bobby Stevens, and LF Kyle Hudson each had an RBI in the top of the second.

Bobby Stevens added two more RBI in the third inning to give Frederick six run advantage as they cruised to a 6-2 win in game one. RHP Luis Noel improved to 3-1 after allowing two runs on four hits over five innings. RHP Ryan Berry closed out the contest after tossing two scoreless innings.

The second game the doubleheader was a different story for Frederick. After a scoreless first two innings, Winston-Salem jumped on LHP Cole McCurry when he came in to relieve RHP Ryan O'Shea after he threw two scoreless innings.

The Dash scored two runs in the third and exploded for eight runs (one earned) in the fourth inning. The eight runs scored were the most runs the Keys in one inning in 2010.

Cole McCurry fell to 5-4 after surrendering 10 runs (three earned) on nine hits over 1.2 innings. Bobby Stevens tossed a scoreless sixth for Frederick. Stevens has now thrown two scoreless innings this season for the Keys.

Frederick and Winston-Salem play game three of the series on Saturday Night from BB&T Ballpark. The Keys will toss LHP Nathan Moreau (3-1, 4.44) while the Dash will counter with RHP Dylan Axelrod (5-2, 2.43). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. with coverage starting at 6:40 p.m. on the Frederick Keys Baseball Network.
