Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that forward Richard Keyes has been called up to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League.

Keyes will make his season debut for the top affiliate of The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim tomorrow night, as Cincinnati plays Grand Rapids Griffins in Grand Rapids. For Richard, this will be the second straight season that he has been called up to Cincinnati. Last season, Keyes played in 10 games with the Mighty Ducks and tallied 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists) and 2 minutes in penalties.

"Part of our responsibility as a organization is to help develop players to the next level," said K-Wings Vice President and General Manager Paul Pickard. "Though Richard received this call up due to his prior experience with Cincinnati, we hope he achieve his goal."

The call up for Keyes continues an impressive streak in his career. In each of his six seasons as a professional, Keyes has been called-up to a higher level of hockey at least once during a season.

The Kalamazoo Wings also announce that they have signed defenseman Liam (LEE-um) McCarthy to a 14 game professional tryout agreement. McCarthy played three games this season with the Quad City Mallards. Liam, who is in his first season as a professional, played his college hockey at Harvard University.

K-Wing fans will get their first opportunity to see Liam this Friday night as the K-Wings host the Rockford IceHogs at Wings Stadium. The game will be part of K-Wings Trading Card Night. The first 1,000 fans into Wings Stadium will receive FREE set of K-Wings Trading Cards courtesy of Burger King and Shoe Carnival.

Tickets for the Rockford game, and all K-Wings home games are currently on sale by calling the Wings Stadium Box Office at (269) 345-5101.
