San Diego Tries to take Three of Four on Trip

FRESNO, Calif. -- The San Diego Gulls are looking to rebound from Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Anchorage Aces and finish their four-game road trip with three wins. Tonight will be the fourth game in five nights for the weary Blue and Orange.

The Gulls took two of three last weekend against the Aces. Friday night, San Diego easily skated to a 4-1 win and pulled out a 2-1 shootout victory Saturday. Anchorage came alive on Sunday however, avoiding a series sweep.

San Diego sits in third place in the West Coast Hockey League, seven points behind the first-place Idaho Steelheads and one point behind the red-hot Bakersfield Condors... Clayton Read earned WCHL Player of the Week honors. He's in the midst of a four-game point streak, notching six points during that span (2g, 4a)... Trevor Koenig grabbed Co-Goaltender of the Week with Bakersfield's Kevin St. Pierre. Koenig is 7-5-1 with a 2.26 goals against average and .913 save percentage...

Fresno comes into tonight's action in fourth place, two points behind the Gulls... Kris Porter leads the Fresno attack with a club-high 16 points (8g, 8a)... Brad Both leads the WCHL with 138 penalty minutes. He's averaging 11.5 minutes per game... Colin Embley leads all rookies with 10 points... Fresno has the league's best home power play, clicking at 22 percent...

The Falcons have taken both games in the head-to-head series thus far. They skated to a 6-4 win in Fresno Oct. 29 and a 5-4 triumph Nov. 12 in San Diego. The Gulls lead the all-time series match-up with a 57-20-6 regular season record.

San Diego has a week off before opening a two-game homestand Tuesday Nov. 26 against the Falcons.
