
Kevin Reiter Returns to Komet Nets

Fort Wayne, IN | Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 --- The Komets announced Tuesday that goaltender Kevin Reiter has agreed to terms and has been added to the 2010-11 preseason roster.
Reiter, 29, will be returning to the Komets for his second stint after collecting the 2008 Huber Trophy and Turner Cup Championship with the Komets. Reiter registered a career high 32 wins in the Fort Wayne nets during 2007-08 while posting a 2.34 goals-against-average and .910 save percentage before sharing time in the playoffs with teammate Nick Boucher.
"With the signing of Kevin Reiter to go along with Nick Boucher, we feel we have the type of goaltending to compete for a championship," Komets general manager David Franke said. "Kevin will also be attending the Worcester Sharks AHL training camp in Worcester, Massachusetts."
During 2007-08 Reiter set a new Fort Wayne franchise record three consecutive shutouts and tied the Komets' goaltender record with eight regular season shutouts. The netminder was named the IHL Goaltender of the Year and and named a 2007-08 IHL First Team All-Star.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has spent the last two seasons in the Elite International Hockey League (EIHL) in the United Kingdom. Reiter appeared in 43 games with Basingstoke during 2008-09 and split time with Sheffield and Newcastle last year.
The Komets also announced Tuesday that defenseman Steven Oleksy has decided not to join the Komets for the upcoming campaign and has been placed on waivers.
The Fort Wayne 2010-11 preseason roster sits at 23 players including 12 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. 14 players are returning to the Komet lineup. 11 players are returning from last season and three have played previous seasons in Fort Wayne.
Komets to skate against Gems in preseason Home opener Oct. 16 The Komets' training camp is scheduled to start Monday, Oct. 4 at the Memorial Coliseum and two exhibition games are planned. The Komets will face the Dayton Gems in both games starting with a home tuneup against the Gems at the Coliseum Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30pm. The Komets will travel to Dayton for a preseason tilt at Hara Arena Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7:30pm.
The reigning IHL Turner Cup Champion Komets will skate their 59th home opener Saturday, Oct. 16 against last year's CHL Champion Rapid City Rush at 7:30pm.
