Kevin Joseph Acquired from Memphis

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that the right-handed pitcher Kevin Joseph has been acquired from Triple-A Memphis. Joseph was acquired by the Montreal Expos in exchange for right-hander Pat Collins. Collins was 2-3, 7.12 (43.0 IP - 34 ER) in 25 appearances with Double-A Harrisburg. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 23 players; 11 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and four outfielders, plus two players (left-handed pitcher Scott Downs and right-handed pitcher Bo Donaldson) on the disabled list.

Joseph, 26, was 1-5, 4.37 (59.2 IP - 29 ER) in 22 appearances (five starts) with the Redbirds this season. He was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 1997 draft. The native of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania was traded by San Francisco to St. Louis with a player to be named for left-handed pitcher Jason Christiansen on July 31, 2001. Joseph made 11 relief appearances last year with St. Louis. He went 0-1, 4.91 (11.0 IP - 6 ER) while allowing 16 hits (one home run) and six walks. Joseph was also 1-1, 1.77 (35.2 IP - 7 ER) with two saves in 31 appearances with Memphis in 2002. He owned a career minor league record of 11-30, 4.35 (358.0 IP - 173 ER) in 181 minor league appearances (28 starts) entering the season.

The next Trapper home game will be on Friday, June 27 when the club will take on the Tacoma Rainiers. The game will begin at 7:05 PM.
