Dayton Dragons News Release
DAYTON, Ohio - Kettering Health Network presents Breast Cancer Awareness Day set for Sunday, August 30 at Fifth Third Field when the Dayton Dragons host the Lake County Captains at 4 p.m. All Dragons players, coaches, front office, and game day staff will be wearing pink sweatbands during the game in support of breast cancer awareness.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Event will take place on the plaza with a wellness wheel, mammogram sign-ups, free pink rally towels, and information on the Making Strides Walk and the new Kettering Health Network Cancer Center.
Breast Cancer survivor Stephanie Fox will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. On February 13, 2014, Fox was diagnosed with Stage 3, Level C inflammatory and hormonal breast cancer. Fox sensed something physically felt wrong and decided to go to Kettering Medical Center for treatment. Thanks to their "wonderful and nice staff," Fox is finishing up treatments and had her last infusion in early August.
"If there is anything you are concerned with, promptly get an appointment and multiple opinions," Fox said. "Don't wait."
As a part of a national fundraising effort, the 2015 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will take place at Fifth Third Field on Saturday, October 17 starting at 8 a.m.
