Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

July 1, 2005 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels will wear patriotic red, white, and blue jerseys when they take on the Ft. Wayne Wizards at 5 p.m. on July 4th. RFK trucking has teamed with the Kernels to provide them with flag-themed tops - the first such Fourth of July related jersey in the team's history.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the one-of-a-kind uniform tops through silent and live auctions throughout the game. Money raised through the sale of the jerseys will go toward improving the all new Veterans Memorial Park adjacent to Veterans Memorial Stadium and, more specifically, toward the creation of a memorial for the current war in Iraq.

Following the game fans can go down on the field and meet the Kernels, who will stick around after the game to play catch, sign autographs, and pose for photos with fans. After darkness falls fans can enjoy the best view of the downtown Freedom Festival fireworks from inside Veterans Memorial Stadium.

A limited number of seats remain for the game. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Cost Cutters Kernels Box Office at 896-7560 or by ordering them online at www.kernels.com
