
Kernels Place Christian Encarnacion-Strand on Injured List

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels have placed third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand on the 7-day Injured List with a concussion. Encarnacion-Strand was struck by a pitch on Tuesday evening in Wisconsin and removed from the game once it was resumed Wednesday afternoon. The Kernels' active roster now stands at 24 players.
Encarnacion-Strand has slashed .294/.361/.580 for a .941 OPS, smashing 20 doubles, three triples and 17 home runs while driving in 60 and scoring 45 runs. The 2021 fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma State leads the Midwest League in hits, RBI, slugging percentage, OPS, doubles, extra-base hits and total bases at the time of his IL placement.
