The Kernels have clinched a first half playoff spot and look to lock up the first half championship with only three games remaining! Here's a preview of what you can expect these next three dates:
June 14-16 vs. Peoria
The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium to host the Peoria Chiefs, the Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, in a three game series.
A big night is on tap for Friday, June 14th when the Kernels take on Peoria at 6:35 pm. The first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 5:00 pm get a free Kernels Superman T-Shirt as part of Superman Movie Theme Night when the Kernels celebrate the release of Superman - Man of Steel. It's also a 98.1 KHAK Kernels Mug Club Friday - buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug for $6.00 and bring it back for refills of soda or regular draft beer for $3.00 all night. Bring your mug back every Friday home game for the same $3.00 refill offer. The Kernels will also welcome the Cedar Rapids Elks Lodge for the annual Flag Day Ceremony before the game. First pitch between the Kernels and Chiefs is set for 6:35 pm.
It's a HUGE night on Saturday, June 15th when the Kernels take on Peoria at 5:05 pm. The Kernels will recognize the winner of the Bud Curran Memorial Scholarship in a pre-game ceremony and the game will be broadcast LIVE on KCRG 9.2! The Kernels are wearing special jerseys as part of ALS Night that will be sold via a silent auction during the game with the proceeds to benefit ALS of Iowa. Then, after the game, enjoy the music of the 1980's as Slap N Tickle perform a post game concert until it's dark enough for FIREWORKS, presented by Procter & Gamble. The first half of the 2013 Midwest League season wraps up on Sunday, June 16th as the Kernels take on Peoria at 2:05 pm. Bring dad out to the ballpark on Father's Day and play on the field after the game as part of 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday. Fans can run the bases, play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the kernels players on the field after the game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon and face painting by Kennedy Wilson on the concourse during the game and play Baseball Bingo during the game, presented by Travel Advisors and the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis. The Kernels will recognize the 2013 winner of the Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship in a pre-game ceremony. Gates open at 1:00 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and Chiefs is set for 2:05 pm.

Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
