Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
MEMPHIS, T.N. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp saw their four-game winning streak come to an end as they fell 3-2 to the Nashville Sounds Tuesday night at 121 Financial Ballpark.
The Nashville Sounds (21-9) entered the top of the ninth trailing, but were able to string hits together and take the late lead. Jimmy Yacabonis (L, 2-2) surrendered a single to David Dahl and a double to Mario Feliciano to start the top of the ninth. Alex Jackson plated Dahl on a groundout to tie the game at two. After a flyout, Jonathan Davis singled home Feliciano to give Nashville the 3-2 advantage.
Matthew Kent dazzled in his start with Jacksonville. He tossed a season-high seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits with six strikeouts, also season high.
Nashville drew first blood in the top of the second with a run. Dahl led off with a double and advanced to third on a single by Feliciano. With runners at second and third, Jackson hit a sac fly, scoring Dahl to put Nashville ahead 1-0.
Jacksonville (18-13) was held without a hit until the sixth inning. Devin Hairston led off the inning with a double against Sounds starter Josh Lindblom. With one out, Peyton Burdick tripled home Hairston to tie the game at one. Lewin Díaz singled in the ensuing at-bat and Burdick scored the go-ahead run giving the Jumbo Shrimp a 2-1 lead.
