
Kensing Picked up by Yankees

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 29, 2011) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that pitcher Logan Kensing has had his contract purchased by the New York Yankees organization. The righthander will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League.
"Logan has been an outstanding member of our pitching staff and will certainly be missed," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "He has a tremendous amount of talent and we wish him the best with his new organization."
Kensing appeared in nine games for the Bluefish in 2011, posting a solid 1.59 ERA. He allowed only seven hits and four walks, while striking out 16 batters over the course of 11.1 innings of work. Last year, the righty spent time with the Washington Nationals during Spring Training. In 2009, he pitched in six contests for the Florida Marlins before he was traded to the Nationals organization. The 29-year-old made the jump to the Big Leagues in 2004 with the Marlins, in just his second season of professional baseball. The reliever has appeared in 134 Major League games with the Marlins and Nationals. With Florida in 2008, he averaged a strikeout per inning out of the 'pen, with MLB personal bests of 55 strikeouts and 55.1 innings pitched, and also finished with a 3-1 record and a 4.23 ERA. Kensing owns an 8-9 career Major League record with a 5.81 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 134 appearances.
