Kennedy Dominates; Wings Take Series

HARLINGEN, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings used offense and solid pitching to cruise past the Texas Thunder 13-5 Tuesday night at Harlingen field.

It was a rough start for starting pitcher Brett Kennedy (3-1) allowing two unearned runs and a basses loaded jam in the first inning, Kennedy then found his form and retired 15 consecutive batters, striking out six in seven innings of work.

In the bottom of the second inning the Wings opened up the flood gates scoring six runs in the frame.

Michael Garcia would score on a passed ball giving the Wings a 3-2 lead, the Wings wouldn't look back from there as the offense added five more runs to pull away from the Thunder.

New WhiteWings slugger Goose Kallunki hit an RBI double scoring Thomas Shull and Fidel Hernandez, this was the first of two hits for Kallunki.

In the sixth inning Kallunki hit a mammoth home run over the left field wall. Kallunki led the offensive charge, he finished 2-for-4 with three RBI's along with Roberto Ramirez going 3-for-4 on the night.

The Wings would tack on a pair of runs in the eighth as Albert Carpen hit a two run RBI double sealing the fate of the Thunder.

The WhiteWings tallied up 13 runs on 15 hits as the Wings won the series for the second time this season versus the Thunder. The Wings improve to 6-2 on the year versus Eddie Dennis and his club.

Wednesday the Wings welcome in the Fort Worth Cats for a four game series at Harlingen Field, Ray Hanson will take the mound for game one of the series. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
