Roadrunners Split Series with Cats

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners split their four-game series with the Fort Worth Cats after dropping the series finale 8-3 Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Cats (20-12) jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first with an RBI single from Shelby Ford that scored Cameron Monger. One out later, Greg Bachman followed with an RBI sacrifice fly allowing Aljay Davis to score making it 2-0.

Fort Worth added a run in the top of the second on an RBI single by Monger and then added three more runs in the top of the fifth on a three-run home run by Ford extending their lead 6-0.

Chris Christopoulos got the Roadrunners (14-18) on the board in the bottom of the fifth with his second home run of the season making it 6-1 in favor of the Cats.

Fernando De Los Santos cut the Fort Worth lead in half with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth making it 6-3.

The Cats added single runs in the top of the seventh and ninth innings before Wes Alsup closed out the game with a scoreless ninth giving Fort Worth the 8-3 victory.

Aaron Wilkerson (4-1) picked up the win after allowing three runs on five hits in six innings while striking out 10.

Makoto Ozone (0-2) took the loss after allowing six runs in four innings while striking out two.

The Roadrunners begin a four-game series with the Alexandria Aces starting Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Thursday's game against the Aces will be Thirsty Thursday where beverages will be $2 all night long.
