Clinton, Iowa - Buddy Kennedy's three-hit night powered the Kane County Cougars (56-44, 21-10) past the Clinton LumberKings (54-46, 21-10) 5-2 on Wednesday night at NelsonCorp Field. Dominic Fletcher and Kennedy notched back-to-back singles to begin the top of the second inning. Blaze Alexander drove in the game's first run on a ground out. Clinton evened the game, 1-1, on Connor Scott's RBI single in the third. Thomas Jones homered in the fifth to shift the LumberKings in front 2-1.

Kennedy opened the seventh inning with a game-tying solo homer. Zack Shannon pounded a two-run homer later in the inning to put the Cougars ahead for good. Kennedy's sacrifice fly added insurance in the eighth.
