The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in a shootout on Friday night in Washington.
The Rockets opened the scoring 1:22 into the first period as Reid Gardiner tipped a Lucas Johansen point shot past Tips netminder Carter Hart to put the Rockets up by one. The score stayed that way through the first period.
Everett scored at 7:50 of the middle frame and the game was knotted at 1-1. Reid Gardiner ripped home a one timer with 0:48 remaining in the period for his 2nd of the evening and the Rockets took a 2-1 lead into the final stanza.
The Silvertips tied it 2-2 and the game was headed to overtime.
