Kelowna Rockets News Release
Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Rockets will have two new faces in their line up this weekend as Shane McColgan and Max Adolph will make their way to Prospera Place.
The Rockets have been short handed in recent weeks with three players at the IIHF World Junior Championships and an injury to Kyle St. Denis. Help has arrived for this weekend as the Rockets will host the Spokane Chiefs and Moose Jaw Warriors.
McColgan was the Rockets first round draft pick, 13th overall in the 2008 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. He made his WHL debut on December 16 in Red Deer and scored his first WHL goal, a game winner, the following night in Edmonton.
This season McColgan is playing with the Los Angeles Junior Kings. In 24 games he had recorded nine goals, 22 assists for 31 points and 34 penalty minutes.
McColgan was born January 1, 1993. He is a forward from Manhattan Beach, California and was the only US born player to be selected in the first round of last year's Bantam Draft.
Kings head coach Jack Bowkus says; "Shane is a pleasure to coach, he works hard every practice, every shift and every game. He plays his heart out and has the passion to become a pro. In the last year, he's really grown up and matured and has really become a heck of a hockey player."
Rockets President/General Manager Bruce Hamilton states, "We've been short-handed for the last few games. With the addition of Shane and Max we'll finally have a full line up after we lost three players to the World Juniors. Plus it'll give our fans a chance to see two very good future Rockets."
Adolph was the Rockets fourth round selection in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
This season Adolph is a key contributor for the Saskatoon Contacts of the SMAAAHL. Adolph and the Contacts are currently playing at the world famous Mac's Midget Tournament in Calgary.
Both McColgan and Adolph will play Friday night versus Spokane and Saturday against Moose Jaw. Jamie Benn, Tyler Myers and Stepan Novotny are expected to be back in the line up on Wednesday January 7 as the Rockets host the Seattle Thunderbirds.
