Port Alberni, B.C. -- Led by Wheat Kings' rookie Mark Stone and 16-year old Brandon prospect Jordan DePape, Team Western improved to 2-0 at the World Under 17 Challenge Tuesday night with a 6-3 victory over Finland.

A former member of the Winnipeg Thrashers, Stone scored a shorthanded goal and set up four others while DePape, who was the Wheat Kings' third round pick (61st overall) in the 2007 Western Hockey League bantam draft, scored three times while setting up another.

DePape and Stone are two of three members of the Wheat Kings' organization at this year's Tournament. Joining them is Neepawa Natives' rookie blueliner Kyle Krzyzaniak.

Team West will be looking for its third straight victory when it faces off against Slovakia later today.

While Team West was busy winning in B.C., the Wheat Kings were moving into fifth place in the WHL's Eastern Conference by defeating the hometown Lethbridge Hurricanes 6-4.

Andrew Clark scored two goals for the winners, with singles coming off the sticks of Jay Fehr, Paul Ciarelli, Aaron Lewadniuk and Brayden Schenn, who ran his current point scoring streak to eight games. Nathan Green added three assists for the Wheat Kings, who led 2-1 and 4-1 at the period breaks.

The 21-13-2-1 Wheat Kings travel to Cranbrook, B.C. today for a New Years Eve game against the 19-14-2-4 Kootenay Ice.
