It took two minutes for the first goal to be scored, as Rourke Chartier found the back of the net as the puck deflected off his skate and into the net for a 1-0 Rocket lead. Kelowna had the shot advantage in the period, 11-5, and looked to increase the lead in the second period.

Tri-City started out the second period with some solid chances, but couldn't get anything past the red line. Kelowna increased the lead to 2-0 as the Rockets had a 2-on-1 shorthanded chance, which ended with a Nick Merkley goal. About three minutes later, the Rockets scored again, as a turnover in the Americans' zone found Dillon Dube in the slot, firing a shot into the goal for a 3-0 lead. With less than a minute remaining in the second, Kelowna made it 4-0, as Leon Draisaitl fired a wrist shot that got past Eric Comrie to give Tri-City a mountain to climb in the third period.

In the third, the Americans had some chances to get back into the game, but couldn't get the puck past Jackson Whistle. Chartier added another shorthanded goal, as he fired a shot from the slot that found the twine for a 5-0 lead. A couple minutes later, Madison Bowey fired a one-timer that lit the red lamp, putting the finishing touches on the Kelowna victory.
