Kelowna Rockets News Release

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 4-1 on Saturday night in Prospera Place.

The Rockets took an early lead after Tomas Soustal put home a scramble play in front of the Portland net. The Winterhawks replied before the period was out and it was 1-1 heading into two.

Kole Lind scored his 21st goal of the season to put the Rockets up 2-1. It was Lind's first goal since before the Christmas break. Rockets carried a 2-1 lead into the third.

Early in the third period Lind danced around a Winterhawks defender and ripped a shot through the arm of Portland goaltender Cole Kehler for his second goal of the evening and the Rockets led 3-1. Brayden Chizen slapped home his third of the season to put the game to 4-1 Rockets and that's how it ended.

Kelowna outshot the Winterhawks 37-35.

Kole Lind led the way for the Rockets recording four points (2G, 2A). He was named the games third star. Jack

Cowell was the second star as he finished with one assist, and Calvin Thurkauf was named the games first star with one assist.

Michael Herringer improved to 20-10-3-0 and looked extremely sharp stopping 34 of 35 shots he faced.

The Rockets improve to 27-17-4-0 on the year.

The Rockets are back in action on Friday January 27th when they host Okanagan rivals the Kamloops Blazers.

They play again at home the following evening when they host the Portland Winterhawks again.
