Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Calgary, AB - The Prince Albert Raiders (11-34-3-2) closed out their road trip with another win on Sunday afternoon, downing the Calgary Hitmen (17-21-6-2) 3-2 in overtime at the Scotiabank Saddledome. It was the Raiders third consecutive win.
Brayden Pachal ended the game at the 1:52 mark of overtime. It is his second game-winning goal in three games, netting the go-ahead goal in the third period of Friday's win over Red Deer.
The Raiders opened the scoring for the fourth consecutive game on Sunday. Parker Kelly forced a turnover and the puck ended up on Jordy Stallard's stick. The former Hitman made no mistake and beat Trevor Martin. It extended his goal-scoring streak to four games.
In the second, the Raiders extended their lead with a power-play goal at the 5:15 mark. Kolten Olynek was at the side of the net and converted on a rebound to make it 2-0. Late in the frame, the Hitmen cut the lead to one when Jakob Stukel beat Nicholas Sanders with a power-play goal of his own.
That score held until the final minute of the third period. With the extra attacker, Matteo Gennaro deflected a pass from behind the net past Sanders to level the score at 2-2.
In overtime, Parker Kelly started a counter attack in the Raiders' end when he passed it up to Pachal. The Estevan product kept on a two-on-one rush and beat Martin to end the game for his second goal of the weekend.
The Raiders are off until Friday night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Canada 150 Night at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office or by calling 306-764-5348.
