Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Assistant director of the Communications@Syracuse program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University Kelly Lux (@KellyLux) will take over the official Syracuse Crunch Twitter account (@SyracuseCrunch) on Saturday, Dec. 5 when the Crunch host the Utica Comets at 7 p.m.
Lux will be the first Syracuse Crunch Twitter Takeover guest of the season. Twitter Takeover invites local personalities to tweet their experience at a Crunch game on the team's official account. It gives loyal Crunch followers the opportunity to read tweets from a unique perspective, while the guest's Twitter followers are introduced to Crunch hockey.
"I'm looking forward to sharing the fun and excitement of the Syracuse Crunch with everyone on Twitter," Lux said. "I hope more people in our community will come out and experience it for themselves!"
Lux is well versed in social media and has 7,291 followers on her personal account. She will begin teaching a Social Media for Communicators course for Newhouse's online Communications@Syracuse master's degree program in January. Prior to joining Newhouse, Lux was director of social media at SU's School of Information Studies (iSchool) as well as teaching social media and web content strategy online. She was also the executive editor of the iSchool's blog, Information Space, which garnered more than one million page views annually within two years of launch.
Additionally, Lux co-founded Community Manager Chat (#CMGRchat) on twitter in 2010. The weekly chat, which ran for five years, targeted those who manage online communities of all sizes, as well as those who aspire to become community managers. Lux was recognized as one of 2014's Top 100 Community Managers worldwide by Hootsuite.
Previous guests of the Syracuse Crunch Twitter Takeover include Christie Casciano of NewsChannel 9, sports media personality Brent Axe and assistant director for alumni programs at Syracuse University Career Services Kim Brown.
