Kelenic Homers as Power Blanks BlueClaws 2-0

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Jarred Kelenic homered for the fourth time in four games, while four West Virginia hurlers combined to toss the Power's fifth shutout win of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Lakewood BlueClaws Tuesday evening at FirstEnergy Park.

Kelenic extended his hitting to a Class A-best 16 games with a solo home run in the first inning, taking Lakewood starter James McArthur (0-2) deep down the right-field line for his sixth long ball of the season. West Virginia (16-7) would tack on another run in the frame, as McArthur issued four straight walks to give the Power a 2-0 lead.

The Mariners' second-best prospect is now averaging .468 (29-for-62) during this stretch, collecting six home runs, nine doubles and 17 RBI.

Damon Casetta-Stubbs (2-0) fired five scoreless innings in his second start for West Virginia, holding the BlueClaws (8-17) to five hits while striking out three and walking one. Casetta-Stubbs has not allowed a run over his first 10 innings of work with the Power.

Sal Biasi kept the shutout going through the seventh, hurling two innings and surrendering just one hit while fanning a pair. Dayeison Arias turned in a scoreless eighth, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts, while Nolan Hoffman (S, 4) picked up his fourth save of the season in as many opportunities with a 1-2-3 ninth. The relief corps retired the last 12 men they faced after Biasi ceded a leadoff single to Rafael Marchan in the sixth.

West Virginia and Lakewood continue their series Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Park, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. LHP Steven Moyers (2-1, 4.43 ERA) takes the hill for the Power, while the BlueClaws counter with southpaw Ethan Lindow (1-1, 3.66 ERA).
