New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) - Baseball fans will have an opportunity to see Can-Am League history in the making when the Rockland Boulders return to Provident Bank Park this weekend to face the Lincoln SaltDogs of the American Association in a three-game season finale. Boulders slugger Keith Brachold has 29 home runs this season and has three games to catch the record of 31, set by Eddie Lantigua of the Quebec Capitales in 2005.

Those in attendance will have an added incentive to root the hometown favorite to the record, as the Boulders have announced some very special offers. The lucky fan who catches and returns to Brachold the record-tying 31st home run ball will receive a prize package including $500 cash, an autographed bat and ball (not the home run ball) and a personal photo with Brachold. Whoever catches and returns the historic 32nd home run ball will receive the same prizes, but the cash reward will be doubled to $1,000.

Of course, staking out a good location to catch the historic homers may prove to be a challenge, as Brachold's shots at Provident Bank Park this season have hit the left field bleachers, the right-center Billboard Monster seats and Flag Pulpit area, as well as over the right field Corona Short Porch, and as far as the right field parking lot. "Fans should buy their tickets now," encouraged Team President Ken Lehner light-heartedly, "because there is already a rumor that Charlie Sheen is going to buy all of the remaining outfield seats!"

In his first year with Rockland, Brachold has certainly made his presence felt, leading the league in both home runs and RBI. Upon his acquisition before the season, Boulders manager and former World Series Champion Dave LaPoint asserted that Brachold may well be the best player in the league, and the slugging lefty has done nothing to dispel that thought. Including his tenure with the Brockton Rox, Brachold has slugged 82 career home runs in the league, good enough to place him fourth on the Can-Am career home run list.

Providing the versatility of a true home run threat, Brachold has shown the ability to clear the fences in any situation, hitting 14 at home and 15 on the road, and he has hit at least one against every team and in every venue in which the Boulders have played this season. He has also shown consistency, going deep between six and 10 times each month this season, and at least twice on each day of the week (see attached "Brachold by the Numbers").

The Boulders Fan Appreciation Weekend runs Saturday, with a 7:05 pm start which includes the Fireworks Extravaganza Season Finale; Sunday in a 5:05 pm start featuring free caps to the first 1,500 fans courtesy of Entenmann's; and Monday at 2:05 pm, with the first 5,000 fans receiving a free Team Photo, courtesy of Good Samaritan Hospital. Additional great promotions are in store for all three games, for tickets or more information, call 845-364-0009, visit our box office, or slide to www.rocklandboulders.com.
