Keene Wins Six In A Row For The Second Time, Beating Vermont 8-2

The Swamp Bats kept both their hot hitting and solid pitching going on Thursday night as they defeated the Vermont Mountaineers 8-2.

David Sosebee (2-2) out of the University of Georgia toed the rubber for the Swamp Bats against the Mountaineers.

Sosebee lasted five plus innings, surrendering two runs on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts along the way.

The Swamp Bats got the scoring in the third off of Vermont's starter David Rosenberger on a bases loaded sac fly by Hofstra's Matt Ford and a RBI fielder's choice by Rutger's Brian O'Grady.

Keene scored two more in the fifth on a two run homerun by St John's Zach Lauricella. The homerun was his fourth, which puts him tied for team lead with JP Sportman.

With a three run lead, the Swamp Bats tacked on three more in the bottom of the eighth, including a two RBI double by Georgia's Dan Nichols.

The Swamp Bats got another stellar outing of Matthew Clancy out of the pen, who went 2.2 scoreless inning. James Connell came on in the ninth inning and closed things out for Keene, to secure the 8-2 victory.

The win is Keene's (17-13) sixth in a row, which improves their July record to 14-2. Danbury will come to town for the first time on Friday night for a double header, starting at 5:00 p.m.
