Valley Blue Sox News Release

Holyoke, MA - The Blue Sox are going to try and turn around a three-game losing streak as they put a wrap on a five-game homestand tonight at Mackenzie Stadium.

Holyoke (13-16) is trying to maintain their spot in the top four in the Western Division to try and secure a spot in the 2013 NECBL standings.

The Schooners (16-14) have been able to stay in the top four of the Eastern Division for the majority of the season.

Holyoke and Mystic have met only once before this season as the two clashed on June 16, with the Blue Sox falling 7-5.

The Hoyoke Blue Sox are pleased to announce "Boston Strong" night on Thursday, July 18th at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts during their game against the Mystic Schooners. The team plans to honor the victims of the attacks on the Boston Marathon.

The Blue Sox are also excited to announce that the special guest of the team will be, barring any unforeseen travel complications, Mr. Marc Fucarile. Fucarile was severely injured in the attacks and was the last of thirty-one patients to be released from Massachusetts General Hospital. He is making steady progress in his recovery, and he recently served as the honorary banner captain for game four of the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Final at the TD Garden between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins.

The Blue Sox are donating a portion of the proceeds from ticket and concessions sales to the fund that has been created to help pay for Fucarile's extensive medical expenses. A silent auction consisting of items donated by various organizations will also be held, with one hundred percent of the money raised being donated to the same fund. The Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics have both donated items to be auctioned. Additionally, Screech, the mascot of the AHL's Springfield Falcons, will also be at the game.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
