Bay Sox Take out Saratoga in Game 1

Sam Dodge (Harvard) of New Bedford received the win after pitching 6 complete innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run in their 10-1 victory over Saratoga on Thursday at Paul Walsh Field. Dodge struck out 7 batters.

The win included a 7 run top of the 3rd from New Bedford including 5 singles and a double to drive Bay Sox runners to home plate.

Ryan Plourde (Fairfield) led the offense for New Bedford going 4 for 5 with 3 RBI and scoring a run. Lane Richards (Notre Dame) and Chris Travers (Roger Williams) each recorded 3 hits on the day. Richards and Travers combined for 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

Duncan Wendel (Baylor) scored the only run for Saratoga in the 5th (unearned) off an error by the 3rd basemen. Wendel went 1 for 3 with a single.

Receiving the loss was Saratoga's starting pitcher Adrian Benitez (Barry). Benitez pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up 7 hits, 8 runs, and striking out 3.

The Bay Sox are now 12-19 on the season. Their next home game is Saturday July 20th at 6:30 against the Mystic Schooners at Paul Walsh Field.
