Career Day for WR Jerel Myers
Third year receiver Jerel Myers has staked his claim as the most accomplished receiver in franchise history. Myers set two franchise records on Friday, April 4th in Georgia. Myers caught franchise high 15 receptions and racked up 168 receiving yards. Myers currently holds Brigade franchise records for receptions in one game and receiving yards in one game. Myers added four touchdowns against Georgia which tied a personal best. Myers is the only player to appear in all 37 franchise games. Myers, who played college ball at LSU, is the Brigade all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,944. He also is tops in touchdowns with 44 career td's.
ESPN Monday Night Football
The "World Wide Leader in Sports" will set up shop at Sprint Center on Monday the 14th. This will be the first Monday Night Football game in team history. Kansas City will be making their second appearance on ESPN in as many years. ESPN was in town during the 2007 playoffs when the Colorado Crush took on the Brigade. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Kansas City versus Chicago will be shown live nationwide on ESPN2. Former Chicago Rush star and current Kansas City Chief WR Bobby Sippio will be in attendance.
ESPN to Present "Rules Game"
ESPN2 will air AFL RULES, a special "Rules Game" telecast, on Monday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The program will feature a live question-and-answer session during the Chicago Rush at the Kansas City Brigade live broadcast. Former AFL Coach and GM Ray Bentley will be answering questions submitted by viewers in an effort to teach fans the unique aspects of the Arena Football League game.
Military Appreciation Day
The Kansas City Brigade will be honoring the men and women of the armed forces on Monday the 14th. There are several very high ranking officials that will be attending representing Army, Navy, Air Force and National Guard. Members of the armed forces are scheduled to participate in pre-game ceremonies.
Brigade Roster Moves
Starting defensive back Monty Montgomery has been released. Montgomery currently leads the team in tackles, passes defended, and forced fumbles. DB Robb Butler will be promoted from the practice squad and takeover Montgomery's old spot. DL Joe Wooldridge has been released from the practice squad. WR James Robinson looks to be added to the practice squad later this week.
