Gladiators Fall to Crush 69-66

CLEVELAND - Otis Amey caught nine passes for 123 yards and a season-high six touchdowns but it was not enough as the Gladiators fell to the Colorado Crush, 69-66 in front of 15,072 fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday night. Cleveland suffered their first home loss of the year evening their record to 3-3 while the Crush improves to 3-3.

Colorado signal-caller John Dutton completed 33-of-48 passes for 314 yards and eight touchdowns in the win. Crush wide out Ben Nelson led all receivers with 13 catches for a game-high 142 yards and two scores. Dutton found Willie Quinnie just nine times - four going for touchdowns.

For the second straight week, two Gladiators receivers recorded 100 or more yards. Amey's 123 accompanied by Robert Redd's 100 yards and one touchdown all figured in Raymond Philyaw's 26-of-37 passing for 316 yards and seven touchdowns. Philyaw threw two interceptions in the game. The 316 yards marked the 17th career 300-plus game for the Gladiators eight-year veteran.

With his eight touchdowns, Dutton has now thrown 506 touchdowns in his career. He is just the seventh player all-time to accomplish that feat.
