Undefeated Soul Travel To San Jose To Go For Lucky Number 7

April 11, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Philadelphia Soul News Release

The undefeated Philadelphia Soul will look for a seventh consecutive victory of the season when they travel to the HP Pavilion on Saturday, April 12 at 10:30 p.m. (et) to take on the defending ArenaBowl Champions, the San Jose SaberCats. The game will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet and stream live at www.950espn.com.

The Soul won their season opener 77-56 over the Orlando Predators on Saturday, March 1 and their road opener 60-49 against the Chicago Rush on March 9. The Soul then won their subsequent games 63-42 over the New York Dragons, 71-34 over the Los Angeles Avengers, 59-51 against the Tampa Bay Storm 59-51 and most recently 64-56 over the Utah Blaze.

Starting QB Tony Graziani's return will determined at game-time. "Graz" was forced to sit out for the past three games after suffering a sprained MCL in his left knee during the 3rd quarter of Week 3 versus the New York Dragons. Graziani was knocked out of the game after throwing a touchdown to Larry Brackins when he fell to a late hit by Dragons defensive nose guard John Nix. Last season, the Soul lost four consecutive games when Graziani was injured with a separated shoulder. However, QB Matt D'Orazio continued the Soul's winning streak this season. Nix received a $1,000 fine and one-game suspension for the hit.

WR Chris "Money" Jackson had yet another incredible game with the Soul last week and hit another milestone. The Offensive Player of the Game recorded season-high and single-game franchise-record 13 receptions for 138 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jackson hit another major career milestone by becoming only the fifth player in AFL history to record 900 receptions. The reception came in the 2nd quarter with a 7 yard touchdown pass from QB Matt D'Orazio with 4:55 remaining. He now has an astounding 905 total career receptions. This was the second major milestone Jackson has made in recent history. Two weeks ago against the Tampa Bay Storm, he became the fourth wide receiver in AFL history to break 12,000 receiving yards.

The Soul look to finally defeat the SaberCats as they are 0-2 all-time against San Jose at the HP Pavilion.
