Kats announce schedule for 2006 season

NASHVILLE (Oct. 25, 2005) - The Nashville Kats will play all eight of their 2006 regular season home games on Friday and Saturday nights, beginning with the home opener against the Columbus Detroyers on Fri., Feb. 3. The entire 2006 Arena Football League schedule was released on Tuesday, and the league will kick off its 20th season the last weekend of January.open the 2006 season on the road. The team's entire 16-game 2006 schedule was released Tuesday by the Arena Football League office.

The Kats will open the season on the road against the defending Eastern Division champion New York Dragons on Sat., Jan. 28, before making their home debut against Columbus at the Gaylord Entertainment Center the following Friday. Nashville will once again compete in the AFL's Central Division, against the Chicago Rush, Grand Rapids Rampage and defending world champion Colorado Crush.

In addition to the home opener against Columbus and the games against the three division opponents, Nashville will also play host to the San Jose Sabercats, the Philadelphia Soul, the new Kansas City expansion franchise and the Tampa Bay Storm. Of the eight home dates, the Kats are scheduled to play four on Friday night and four on Saturday night. All game dates and times are subject to change, and the league's television schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

In addition to playing at New York in the season opener and at their division rivals, the Kats will also travel to Arizona, Utah, Las Vegas and Los Angeles in 2006.

The Nashville Kats will convene for training camp on January 2, and will add All-Arena stars Cory Fleming and Frank Carter to the roster, as well as 2005 All-Rookie quarterback Clint Stoerner. Season tickets are on sale now and are available by phone at 615-565-4700, or through Katsonline.com.
