October 25, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm announced its schedule for the 2006 AFL season today. The Storm will play 16 games on the road to their 16th consecutive playoff appearance and ArenaBowl XX in Las Vegas.
Tampa Bay was a perfect 8-0 at the St. Pete Times Forum in 2005, becoming only the second team in AFL history to do so.
Key dates include opening weekend on January 29 at the Philadelphia Soul and February 10 and March 26 against defending National Conference Champion Georgia Force, who have proven to be a formidable foe for the Storm in the Southern Division. The Force defeated the Storm in two of three games in 2005 including knocking them out of the playoffs in the divisional round, 46-62. The first match-up with Georgia will also serve as Tampa Bay's home opener.
The "War on I-4" continues with the Orlando Predators on February 19 and April 22. The Storm hold the lead in the all-time series winning 19 of 37 contests. The Storm have also won the last 5 of 6 from the Predators.
Also, the expansion Utah Blaze will make their first appearance at the St. Pete Times Forum in 2006. Utah, the newest AFL franchise in the growing league, is coached by former Arizona Rattlers coach Danny White.
