
Kashirsky's Hat Trick And Ford's Shutout Give Stingrays 4-0 Victory Over Charlotte

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (19-6-1-3) shutout the Charlotte Checkers (14-7-2-1) 4-0 Sunday night in front of 3,616 at North Charleston Coliseum. Froward Nikita Kashirsky recorded a hat trick and goaltender Todd Ford stopped all 25 Checkers shots for his first shutout of the season. With the win, the Stingrays send their winning streak to ten games.
The Stingrays lit the lamp first as Kashirsky knocked in a loose puck past Checkers goaltender Frank Doyle at 7:15 of the first period. Defensemen Nate Kiser and Trent Campbell recorded assists. Kashirsky put the Stingrays up by two at 9:28 from forwards Campbell and Keith Johnson on a beautiful tic-tack-toe play down the right-wing boards.
The Checkers came out flying in the second period outshooting South Carolina eleven to six, but it was the Stingrays that found the back of the net thanks to forward Gregg Johnson at the 18:00 mark to give the Stingrays a 3-0 lead at the end of two periods. Stingrays forward Matt Fornataro and defenseman Josh Godfrey earned assists.
Kashirsky completed the hat trick at 16:34 of the third period beating Doyle high glove-side from K. Johnson. Doyle finished the night kicking aside 26 of 30 Stingrays shots. The Stingrays were awarded the only power play of the night going 0-for-1.
The Stingrays head to Charlotte Wednesday, December 16 to take on the Checkers at 7:00 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Stingrays return to North Charleston Coliseum Saturday, December 19 against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m. Saturday is Tailgate Saturday with the Rays!
