ANCHORAGE, Alaska - John Lammers scored a hat trick as Alaska rallied from an early 3-0 deficit, but two more goals by ex-Ace Matt Robinson proved enough for Stockton to hold on for a 5-4 win in front of 5,671 Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

While the Thunder claimed their fourth straight victory, the Aces have dropped back to.500 overall (11-11-2) at exactly the one-third mark of the schedule, the latest they have been at that level in their ECHL history. Alaska and Stockton wrap up the three-game series tomorrow at 5:05 p.m., with live coverage on KFQD 750 AM getting underway at 4:45 p.m. Immediately after the game, fans bringing their own skates may "Skate with the Aces," a Sunday ritual presented by Fred Meyer.

Numerous defensive breakdowns led to Alaska's poor start, as Thunder winger Judd Blackwater opened the scoring with a backdoor tap-in at 3:53 of the first period. James Bates deflected a Ryan Constant point shot past Aces goalie Scott Reid at 12:55, and less than two minutes later, a wide-open J.F. Caudron punched home the third goal for the visitors from between the circles. Alaska snapped out of its first period doldrums with two goals in six seconds, the first by Lammers and the second by Matt Stefanishion, leaving the score 3-2 with four minutes left in the opening frame.

Stockton increased the margin to 4-2 when Robinson scored a power play goal at 5:18 of the second period. The score remained that way until Lammers scored his second goal just as a five-on-three Aces power play was set to expire. Alaska failed to take advantage of the ensuing five-on-four situation for 1:20, and Robinson came back with his fourth goal of the series at 14:35 for a 5-3 advantage. That goal proved to be decisive when Lammers banged home another power play goal with 1:58 remaining, his 14th goal in 12 ECHL games this season. A final shot by Lammers, his 13th of the game, was stopped by Thunder goalie Andrew Perugini (who had arrived from Hartford five hours prior to the game) as time expired.

Alaska fired a season-high 20 shots in the third period alone and 40 for the game, while permitting a season-low 24.
