Kansas City Rallies to Beat 'Cats in 11 Innings

GARY, Ind. - The Kansas City T-Bones came back from down 6-0 to beat the RailCats 7-6 in 11 innings on Monday night.

With runners on the corners and two out in the 11th, reliever Nolan Nicholson threw a wild pitch that scored Jose Duran. It was the RailCats' third straight loss and dropped their record to 15-21 on the season.

The RailCats rallied with two outs in the first inning. Mike Coles singled and Craig Maddox reached on an error, with another error allowing Coles to reach third. Sean Henry delivered his first RBI as a RailCat on a single to right to score Coles. Kyle Haines followed with a base hit to center but Maddox was thrown out at home trying to score from second.

The 'Cats piled up five runs in the third inning off of T-Bones starter Luke Irvine. Henry hit another RBI single and Haines drilled a two-run double to left. Mike Rohde plated another run with a groundout and Brian Kolb drove in a run with a bunt single to make it 6-0.

The T-Bones scored their first run in the top of the fourth on a run-scoring triple by Enrique Cruz. In the fifth, Ray Sadler hit a two-run triple to right and Trevor Coleman hit an RBI single to cut the RailCats lead to 6-4. Brandon Jones hit a two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning to tie the game.

Game two of the four game series will be on Tuesday night at 7:10 on Free Pizza Tuesday. Fans will receive a free slice of pizza with their ticket purchase at the box office. Will Krout (0-2, 4.50) will get the start for Gary.
