
Ziegler Named Batter of the Week

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' first baseman C.J. Ziegler has been named the American Association's Batter of the Week for the week ending June 24th.
Ziegler was 11 for 25 (.440) in seven games last week, six of which resulted in Wingnuts' victories. The Tucson, AZ native slugged three home runs, drove in 12, scored eight times, and drew eight walks. Ziegler powered the Wingnuts' offense in a 7-1 win versus Amarillo last Tuesday, hitting two home runs and collecting five RBI. Two nights later, the 26-year-old had four hits and four RBI in Wichita's 19-10 win in their series opener at Sioux City. Ziegler capped his performance with a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning on Saturday to help break a 2-2 tie and propel the Wingnuts to an eighth consecutive win.
Zielger currently leads the American Association with 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 36 games played. It marks the first weekly award for a Wingnuts' player this season.
