Kansas City beats Goldeyes

August 7, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

The Winnipeg Goldeyes had the based loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning. But, Vince Harrison flied out in foul territory to end the game in a rather anticlimatic fashion.

Down 9-0 after the fifth inning, Winnipeg (37-35) battled back, but fell 9-6 to the Kansas City T-Bones (42-28) Saturday night before 5,485 fans at Canwest Park.

Kansas City's lead was largely due to a pair of three-run home runs in the fifth inning. T-Bones right fielder Ray Sadler and catcher Keith Hernandez, with his second of the game, both did the feat.

The Fish got on the board with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dee Brown provide the exclaimation point with a two-run home run. Kevin West hit a two-run moon shot over the left-field foul pole in the seventh inning to cut Kansas City's lead to just three, but it's as close as Winnipeg would get.

Goldeyes starting pitcher Chris Salamida gave up seven runs over four and a third innings to take the loss. Cody McAllister went six and two-thirds innings to get the win for the T-Bones.

Former Goldeye Drew Shetrone pitched the ninth inning for his second save in a Goldeyes uniform.

The two sides will meet in the deciding game of the three-game set Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Great seats are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 780-3333.
