Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

HICKORY, NC - Kannapolis needed a late rally to snatch a 9-6 victory from the Hickory Crawdads on a rainy Wednesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Following a one hour and 32 minute rain delay, the longest of the season, Kannapolis wasted no time taking an early lead against Hickory starter Wilmer Font, only to see it disappear. Sergio Morales' first-inning home run helped the Intimidators to a 3-0 lead after the top of the second, but Greg Infante could not hang on.

Instead, Kannapolis (31-28) needed five unearned runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. The Intimidators saw six straight reach with two outs off of Tyler Tufts (2-1) to ensure the victory. Seth Loman added some insurance taking Tufts deep in the ninth for his fourth long ball of the season.

Infante labored through 5 2/3 innings, walking six batters and hitting two while giving up four earned runs. The right-hander also struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

The win went to Tyson Corley (3-0), who was back on the roster after spending the last two days with Triple-A Charlotte. All-star closer Dan Remenowksy gave up a home run to Mike Bianucci, but retired the other three batters he faced to seal the win.

Cody Eppley took a tough luck no-decision, pitching 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Crawdads (28-29) out of the bullpen in relief of Font. Font lasted just 1 2/3, allowing three runs, all earned.
