SAUGET, Ill. - Winners of three straight, the Gateway Grizzlies added a 6-3 victory over the Beach Bums of Traverse City to their season's ledger Friday night at GCS Ballpark.

Starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky (3-0) registered his team leading third win of the early season behind a solid seven-inning, four hit outing. The 24 year-old righty surrendered only three earned in the Frontier League bout, and was the recipient of several key defensive highlights supplied by a stingy Grizzlie defense.

"It makes it so easy to go out and pitch your game knowing that you have guys who are human highlight reels waiting to happen backing you up," mentioned Kaminsky of his squad. "You cannot say enough about this team's effort both offensively and defensively."

Gateway (7-6) produced at the plate as well, with six Grizzlies notching a knock in the hit column. Antoine DeJesus led the efforts with a three-run home run in the sixth inning that added insurance to a one run lead. First baseman Jerod Yakubik also turned in an even performance with a 2-for-4 labor at the plate.

Beach Bum (7-6) righty Jacob Clem (1-1) was charged the loss, going five and one third frames with six hits and five earned.

Witnessing the start of Gateway's modest three-game win streak was 2,751 loyal fans. These numbers hold special weight, because with the evening turnout comes 1,808,174 fans since 2001 - vaulting the Gateway Grizzlies to number one all-time in Frontier League attendance history.

The Grizzlies return to GCS Ballpark tomorrow night at 7:05 PM and face the Beach Bums in game two of the weekend's three-game set.
