Gateway Grizzlies News Release

SAUGET, Ill. - Gateway Grizzlies shortstop Artemis Kadkhodaian and starting pitcher Max MacNabb were named Frontier League All-Stars on Monday. Kadkhodaian and MacNabb will play for the Rookies team in the new All-Star Game format at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Missouri, on July 11.

Kadkhodaian, in his second year as a professional after playing last season in the Los Angeles Angels' organization, will start at shortstop for the Rookies. His .303 batting average this season leads qualified Grizzlies batters. Kadkhodaian has four home runs, nine doubles and 17 RBIs in 33 games with Gateway.

MacNabb, who is playing his fifth professional season and first with the Grizzlies, is 4-5 with a 3.92 ERA this year. His 60 strikeouts (in 57 1/3 innings) rank fourth in the Frontier League. MacNabb has played in nine different leagues across three continents as a professional; his travels were recently featured in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch profile.

Gateway had three All-Star representatives last season - outfielder Blake Brown, starting pitcher Mike Elwood and relief pitcher Javier Reynoso. Reynoso was a late addition, which came after the initial All-Star announcement. This year, each team's manager will have the opportunity to fill three more slots on their respective teams.

Tickets are on sale for the Frontier League All-Star Game on July 11 and Home Run Derby on July 10 at CarShield Field.
