Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Game Rewind Wednesday, October 7th @ Alaska (Kalamazoo 4-Alaska 3-Overtime)
Anchorage, AK- Fending off a second period surge from the Alaska Aces, Kalamazoo's Sam Ftorek struck 61 seconds into overtime to capture the 4-3 victory.
Returning 18 players from last season's Kelly Cup runners-up team, the Aces pounced early with a goal from Matt Stefanishion (1st) 1:08 into the contest.
Kalamazoo rallied 25 seconds later, with an unassisted marker from Sean O'Conner (1st) to tie the game at one.
O'Conner's tally was the start of a three-goal outburst for the K-Wings. Trent Daavettila (1st) pushed the K-Wings ahead 2-1, with an unassisted goal 3:51 into the period.
Early in the second period, Andrew Fournier (1st) extended the K-Wings lead to two goals; however, Alaska erased the lead second period tallies from Luke Erickson (1st) and Lance Galbraith (1st).
Neither team was able to score in the third period, which set up the game-winner from Ftorek.
Thursday October 8th @ Alaska (Alaska 2-Kalamazoo 1)
Anchorage, AK- Avoiding a preseason sweep of the Kalamazoo Wings, the Alaska Aces scored early in the third period to escape the preseason finale 2-1.

Battling back in the second period, Mathieu Curadeau (1st) scored from the slot 4:54 into the stanza to tie the contest at 1-1.
Alaska sealed the game early in the third period; with a spin-around wrister from Matt Stefanishion (2nd) to give the Aces a 2-1 lead.
