Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The K-Wings started the week on Tuesday (2/14) at home against the Muskegon Fury during the 6th Annual Pink Ice Game. In a game that Muskegon led throughout, Kalamazoo found themselves down 5-2 in the third period. The K-Wings, who prior to Tuesday's game, were 0-7-3 in game's they trailed heading into the third period, scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at 5-5. Jason Deitsch (20) goal with 1:07 remaining in regulation, forced the contest into a shootout. The extra session would last eight shooters and Deitsch would strike again by scoring the game-winning shootout goal to give the K-Wings a 6-5 come-from behind shootout victory over the Fury.
On Friday (2/17), the K-Wings remained at home, as they hosted the Motor City Mechanics. Motor City jumped out to an early 2-0 first period lead and never looked back. Kalamazoo received goals from Greg Labenski (9) and Lucas Drake (18), but it wouldn't be enough, as the Mechanics defeated the K-Wings 5-2.
The K-Wings concluded their four-game home stand on Saturday (2/18) against the Richmond RiverDogs. Kalamazoo scored the game's first four goals, including two from Brad Church (11,12) en route to a 8-3 victory over Richmond . Kalamazoo was led by Church and Kory Karlander who both had four points in the game.
Kalamazoo finished off the week on the road Sunday (2/19) with a trip to Moline, Illinois to battle the Quad City Mallards. The K-Wings special teams proved to be the difference in the game, as Kalamazoo went 2 for 2 on the power-play and stopped all eight of the Mallards power-play attempts. Jason Deitsch (22,23) also added two-goals, which increased his point streak to 11-games, in the K-Wings 5-1 victory over Mallards. Kalamazoo's Jeff Reynaert earned his 12th victory of the season by stopping 28 of the 29 shots he faced.
Fast Forward
The Kalamazoo Wings will play three games this week starting this Wednesday morning (2/22), as the K-Wings host the Motor City Mechanics during the 2nd Annual Education Day Game presented by WKFR, American Village Builders and Red Robin. The K-Wings are 5-2-0 against the Mechanics this season. Motor City starts the week in third place in the Central Division, 18 points behind the K-Wings.
On Friday (2/24), Kalamazoo will hit the road to battle the Quad City Mallards. On the season, the K-Wings are 2-1-0 against the Mallards. Quad City starts the week in third place in the Western Division, two points behind Fort Wayne for second place.
The K-Wings conclude the week on Saturday (2/25) with a road trip to Port Huron to face-off against the Flags. On the season, the K-Wings are 5-0-1 against their intra-state rivals. Port Huron starts the week in fifth place in the Central Division.

Scoring in Bunches
Forward Jason Deitsch enters the week on a lengthy point streak. Deitsch is currently on an eleven-game point streak. The eleven-game point streak is both the longest current point streak by a K-Wings player and ties the K-Wings season high shared with Tyler Rennette.
Church Reaches 200
Forward Brad Church reached a personal milestone last Sunday against Quad City. Church, who had two assists during the K-Wings 5-1 victory, recorded his 200th career assist.
Man Advantage
Defenseman Greg Labenski has scored nine of his ten goals while the K-Wings have been on the power-play. The 9 power-play goals places Labenski second in the UHL among defenseman.
Time for School
The K-Wings will play their first of two straight Wednesday home school days, this week during the 2nd Annual Education Day Presented by WKFR, American Village Builders, and Red Robin. Lifetime, Kalamazoo is 3-2-0 in morning games, including a victory earlier this season at Flint during the Generals Education Day.
The Obscure Stat of the Week
With their victory over Quad City, the K-Wings have improved their record this season to 7-0-1 on games played on Sunday. Lifetime, the K-Wings are 36-27-6 on games played on the first day of the week.
