
Richmond's Oliveira and Missouri's Reiter earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Richmond RiverDogs center Mike Oliveira has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Missouri River Otters goaltender Kevin Reiter has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 19, 2006.
Oliveira completed the week with nine points (8g, 1a) and a plus-2 rating in three games played. On Wednesday, he scored a goal in each period to complete the "hat trick" (3g) in the 8-1 victory vs. Roanoke. He also added an assist to finish with a four point night (3g, 1a). In Friday's 6-5 shootout win vs. Muskegon, he recorded a "natural hat trick" (3g) in the second period. He also converted on his shootout attempt. He netted two goals in Sunday's 8-3 loss to Kalamazoo. The 26-year-old native of West Lorne, Ontario is currently riding a 20-game point streak. Oliveira ranks third in the UHL in scoring with 73 points (40g, 33a) and second in goals (40).
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite right wing Kevin Watters, Danbury center Drew Omicioli, Elmira center Chris Chaput, Flint forward Sean Starke, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Kalamazoo left wing Brad Church, Missouri left wing Lonnie Loach, Motor City center Brent Gretzky, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Quad City right wing Chad Woollard, Roanoke left wing David Beauregard, and Rockford center Olivier Proulx.
Reiter finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.50 goals against average (GAA), and a .955 save percentage (SPCT). He made 34 saves in Wednesday's 4-1 victory vs. Port Huron. He then stopped 29 shots in the 3-2 win vs. Port Huron on Friday. The 24-year-old native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has a 12-21-2 record this season. Reiter currently leads all UHL goaltenders in shootout save percentage (.794). It is the second weekly goaltender honor for him this season.
