August 25, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that goaltender Chad Alban will be back for the 2004-05 season.

Earlier this month, eurohockey.net reported that Alban had signed a tryout agreement with the Hammarby IF in Sweden.

"I made a mistake and I never intended for this to happen," said Chad Alban. "My intention has always been to play for the K-Wings this season, I'm sorry for any confusion this has caused the organization or our fans. I went over there to skate and to see what European hockey was all about, but I never for one second was going to leave home (Kalamazoo)".

With this announcement Alban, who tied the UHL record last year with eight shutouts, will return for his third year in Kalamazoo.

After meeting with Chad Alban earlier this afternoon, Vice President/ General Manager Paul L. Pickard made the following statement:

"I am glad to resolve this issue. Chad has been a key player for us for the past two years. Before we reacted, I wanted to talk with him personally. After our conversation, I am confident that this issue is dead and we are ready to continue to pursue our goal of winning the Colonial Cup. Chad is an outstanding goaltender, but most importantly an individual that I respect and that has tremendous credibility. He recognizes he made an error in judgment but takes full responsibility and that's what makes him such a great leader."

The K-Wings, who currently have nine players signed for the upcoming year, will start their 31st season of hockey on October 15th, when they travel to Fraser, Michigan to play in the inaugural game for the Motor City Mechanics. Kalamazoo will start the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 23rd, when they host the Port Huron Beacons.

Season Tickets for the 2004-05 season of Kalamazoo Wings hockey are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Box Office. Fans can save 15% by purchasing their season tickets for next season by paying in full by September 30th. Box Office hours are Monday-Friday 9am-4pm.
